Units of Measurement: The International System

  • Rhys Lewis
Part of the Macmillan Technician Series book series (TCC)

Most of us begin to measure and use units of measurement long before we even meet the words ‘measure’ and ‘unit’. Very small children soon learn what a penny is and, before long, a second, a minute and an hour. We go on to learn of length and mass and weight (more about these later) and all of us, whatever our job may be, need to know what these quantities are, and what units they are measured in, every time we make a purchase and indeed every time we obtain materials to make anything.
