Abstract

Of the major planets in the Solar System, only two can pass across the face of the Sun, at least as seen from the vantage point of Earth. Such a phenomenon is called a “transit,” and the only planets that can accomplish this feat are the two so-called “inferior” planets, Mercury and Venus.
