Part of the Applied Mathematical Sciences book series (AMS, volume 130)

In this chapter we present an axiomatic operator theoretic framework for the system and control problems to be considered later. The chapter begins with the construction of the extended space, He, which serves as the input-output space He, introduce casuality, and define stability.
