In Chapters 2 and 3 we presented families of life distributions of components/systems and probabilistic methods of determining the reliability of a system as a function of the reliabilities of its components. In Chapter 5 we touched upon some problems of estimating some interesting parameters of life distributions. The estimation methods discussed there are based on graphical analysis of probability plots. These methods, though often coarse and imprecise, do provide quick estimates.
