Test of Parity Doubling in 223Ra and 223Th

Abstract

The level structures of the odd-A nuclei 223Ra and 223Th have been investigated by means α-γand α-e K,L,M angular correlation measurements, in-beam electron conversion and γ-ray spectroscopy. Values of g-factors for members of the K = 3/2± bands in 223Ra and K= 5/2± bands in 223Th have been extracted from the measurement of B(M1)/B(E2) branching ratios and compared to theoretical predictions in order to ascertain wether they support other indications of octupole deformation in these nuclei or not.
