Equivalent Static Lateral Force Method: Uniform Building Code—1985
- 277 Downloads
The engineering methods for earthquake resistant design presented in this chapter and in the next chapter are based, respectively, on the requirements of the Uniform Building Codes of 1985 and 1988 [UBC-85 and UBC-88 (International Conference of Building Officials 1985; 1988)]. The Uniform Building Code is the building code most extensively used in the United States, particularly in the western part of the country. The UBC-88 introduced major changes in the previous edition of 1985. However, UBC-85 is also presented because other major codes in use have similar requirements.
