Lithium and Immune Function in Man
- 57 Downloads
Lithium has diverse biologic effect on many organ systems. The effects of lithium on the central nervous system, thyroid gland, kidney, heart, gastrointestinal tract, and bone marrow have been investigated (Singer and Rotenburg, 1973; Rothstein et al., 1978). Lithium appears to exert some physiologic actions by interfering with cyclic AMP mediated processes which are regulated by polypeptide hormones (Smith et al., 1977).
