Circular Differential Microscopy

In this chapter we will describe the historical development of the theory of differential imaging, and the invention of the circular differential imaging microscope. The technique is shown to be a logical extension of the research on the interaction of circularly polarized light with structures whose dimensions are arbitrary with respect to the wavelength of light, (Tinoco et al., 1980).
