Hazardous Work and Destructive Elements in the Working Environment and Risk Categories in a Mining Company

Abstract

In the present paper, we have concentrated on how the occupational health and safety policy is exercised in Slovakia and abroad, on the clarification of the risk assessment process, on the delineation of the working environment damaging effects and on eliminating their harmful aspects. The article aspires to evaluate the ‘noise’ risk factor’s impact on a selected profession of a major company that extracts and processes magnesite ore in Slovakia. Introduction of new technologies often entails also changes in types and numbers of work positions, which gives rise to new potential risks as well. Based on freshly identified evidence, we are going to attempt to outline the procedure of elaborating the proposal to upgrade the profession under consideration into a new risk category.
