The methods used have been explained in Chap. 4 in Vol. I. The cats were stimulated with tones of 2000 Hz and 80 dB. Every fifth stimulation was omitted. The omitted stimulation is the target signal. Mathematical algorithms, experimental procedures, and neurophysiological methods (location of electrodes) and the paradigms for obtaining the P300 responses in the hippocampus of the cat brain were described in Chap. 16.
