Abstract

There are several trends extending or renewing Sherrington’s “neuron doctrine.” Freeman has proposed a “neo-Sherringtonian view” of integrative brain function, whereas Barlow and Mountcastle have proposed modern views on the neuron doctrine (see Chap. 28).
