Abstract

A survey is presented of the occurence of compounds from marine source, other than microorganisms, which have been reported to have antiviral, antitumor or cytotoxic properties. The biological data is given for each occurence, together with discussion of the method employed to obtain these data. The taxonomic distribution for all compounds showing these activities id tabulated

Strategies for the detection of further compounds with potential as leads for antiviral or anticancer agents are presented.
