Effects of Herbicides on Oats
- 72 Downloads
South Dakota is part of the major oat producing region in the United States. Farmers in the state plant about 1,000,000 hectares of oats annually. It is estimated that 40% of the oats are sprayed with a herbicide. Most years we have some farmers complaining of injury to their oat crop. Many of these claim to have done everything properly. Our dilemma is not being able to prove whether the cause is mistake in formulation, rate or timing of application or some other reason such as environmental interaction or varietal sensitivity.
