Effect of Specific Features of Electronic Structure on Elastic and Structural Properties of Metals and Alloys

Abstract

We consider effects of sharp and peculiar variations of the atomic properties of metals arising from changes in the position of the Fermi level near singular points in the electron density of states. Using a simple model of the electronic topological transition we discuss general features of such effects. We review manifestations of these effects in a number of real systems and phenomena.
